Festival Harassment Policy

The CLEReads Book Festival is committed to providing a safe experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, citizenship, disability, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other marginalization. As such, we enforce a zero tolerance harassment policy; harassment includes but is not limited to: inappropriate physical contact; deliberate following, stalking, photographing, or recording; unwelcome sexual attention; sustained disruption; and discriminatory comments. The CLEReads Book Festival appreciates the importance of maintaining a secure space for all people to celebrate their love for books and literacy; therefore, due to the sensitive nature of such matters we will endeavor to investigate and respond to all reports in a timely matter while protecting the confidentiality of the reporter to the fullest extent possible.

Individuals participating in any action deemed harassment (including festival attendees, festival committee, staff, volunteers, panelists, and vendors) will be subject to disciplinary action by the CLEReads Book Festival committee, which may include: a warning, removal from festival grounds, banning from future CLEReads Book Festival events, and in extreme cases, notifying local law enforcement.

Anyone may report harassment by alerting a festival coordinator or a festival volunteer. If you’re unable or don't wish to report in person, you can email the Festival committee at info@clereads.com (though please note this may not be actively monitored on the day of the festival).
